More than 400 bird species; the “Big Five”; gorillas and chimpanzees
Uganda is a splendid country and offering visitors the opportunity to experience unspoilt African wilderness at its best. The landscape varies from high mountains to lakes, savannahs and forests – not forgetting the source of the Nile. Uganda is a green and fertile country and, because of its high plateaus, great swamps andhuge amount of water, the country has a wide variety of bird species, such as the Shoebill – plus another 1148 bird species! During this tour we will visit the Mabamba Wetlands, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kibale Forest and Sempaya Hotsprings, Lake Bunyony and Bwindi National Park. We will have boat trips and explore the forests to find gorillas, champanzees and, of course, the “big five”.
A country where old Africa is still alive
Go on safari along Buggala Island in Lake Victoria and there are many birds to be seen. Then there is Murchison Falls National Park where the Nile rushes down between rocks; Kibale Forest National Park where chimpanzees live; Queen Elizabeth National Park, where there is masses of wildlife to be seen; Ishasha where lions climb trees; crater lake Lake Bunyonyi; the mountain gorillas in Bwindi National Park and Lake Mburo National Park where the beautiful lake is surrounded by acacia-lined hills.
A green land
Uganda is lush and green, even where the rainforest is cut down. There are vast fields of cane, tea, rice and corn, bamboo groves and banana trees. Mgahinga National Park is so dense that. in order to look for the famous gorillas, a road has to be cut through the jungle.
Nature reserves
Tour around the nature parks of Uganda: the famous gorillas of Mgahinga National Park; the lions, elephants and hippos of Kigezi Wildlife Reserve; more lions in the Queen Elizabeth National Park; birds, elephants and crocodiles in Murchisons Falls and the jungle of Karuma Wildlife Reserve.
We have made a selection of all these highlights of Uganda for our 16 day tour. Our aim is to show you as many of its 1148 bird species as possible as well as many gorillas, chimpanzees and other mammals.
Bird photography in Uganda
Many birds are so tame that we could approach these very closely. During this tour you will find many opportunities to take good pictures.
