Brazil, Amazonian rainforest and Pantanal
Brazil!! Everything about this romantic country is impressive. Its territory is larger than the whole of
Western Europe. The country is economically growing, which means that, generally speaking, real nature has to take a step back. The Amazonian area – the biggest and most threatened rainforest – still has magnificent wildlife habitats and some of its finest birdwatching. Just like the Pantanal, capibaras, hyacinth macaws, giant otters, jabiru, alligators, tarantulas, many species of kingfishers – and perhaps even a jaguar – are to be found. This birdwatching and nature tour is an excellent.
During this tour you will have several boat trips and local flights. On the excursions you will mainly be walking, but a horse ride is also part of the tour. The area is quite flat and so the horse ride will be easy. Most important is the comfort, the real enjoyment and the feeling of being part of this overwhelming natural environment. There is enough time to take many beautiful pictures. All the accommodation is situated in beautiful scenery, with an emphasis on comfort and luxury.
Programma van dag tot dag Brazilië
Day 1 To Sao Paulo with an overnight stay in Sao Paulo
Day 3 Walking in this nature reserve to see butterflies, alligators, tapirs, giant otters, many macaws, razor billed curassow, capped heron, sun bitterns, red-throated piping-guan and many kingfishers.
Day 4 Climb the tower in the Cristallino reserve and enjoy the magnificent view of the rain forest with many toucans, macaws, howler monkeys, spider monkeys, anacondas, armadillos, sloths and tapirs.

Day 6 Local flight to Cuiaba and transfer to the northern part of the Pantanal.
The Transpantaneire is the only dusty and bumpy road in the area. During the dry season, part of the water disappears, although some ponds and pools remain for the many waders, such as jabiru, rose spoonbill, agami egret, southern screamer, sun bittern, jacanas, egret and cormorants. You will stay in the Pousada Curicaca at a distance of 130 km from Cuiaba.
Day 7 The area around the Pousada is a protected nature reserve. Early in the morning you can hear the concert of monkeys and birds. Also here there is a viewing tower where you can peep out at the pristine wetland. During a boat trip on the Rio Novo you will have a chance to see many water birds, egrets and cormorants. After dinner you will take a night drive to explore the forest for nightjars, caymans, giant ant-eaters, tapirs and jaguar.
Day 8 and 10 From the lodge you can take boat trips and jeep rides to look for butterflies and amphibians – and, especially, the jaguar! During the evening you can take a night drive with the chance of spotting ten different species of mammal!
Day 11 and 12 Transfer via the Transplantaneira to an old ranch at the Pisiam river. On our way we will see a nest of young jabirus. In the afternoon you will have a boat trip on the river where you will almost certainly see giant otters as well as many birds. Overnight stay in the Pantanal Wildlife Centre. In the evening, again a night drive….

Next morning we will have an excursion by boat to see the river from the opposite side. We will have a chance to watch jaribu, many species of kingfishers, monkeys, macaws, coatis, agoutis, tanagers and jacamars. After dinner there will be a night drive.
